Charter Terms

and Conditions of Payment

It is OCEAN Independence´s charter department's concern to offer our customers an all-round professional service. This includes assistance in preparing your complete charter trip and assisting you wherever necessary.

The charter rates are usually based on MYBA or CT terms detailed below. You will find the terms that apply respectively to the different yachts, mentioned in the short description found in our charter listing.

MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Broker Association) Terms

These terms are applied to yachts usually cruising in the Western Mediterranean. The charter rates based on these terms include the rental and insurance of the yacht as well as crew. All other expenses, such as fuel and moorings costs, food and beverages for the charter clients, onboard communication fees, etc. will be charged additionally to the charter rate.

CT (Caribbean Terms)

The charter rates based on Caribbean Terms include all running costs and fuel as well as three meals per day. Alcoholic drinks and onboard communication fees are not included in the charter rate. Some yachts also do not include port fees and have therefore to be paid in addition to the charter rate.

Value Added Tax (VAT) and other Cruising Fees

These vary from country to country and in some cases, from yacht to yacht. Please consult us for the conditions that apply to the countries and/or special conditions of particular yachts of interest to you.

Charter Contract and Conditions of Payment

Once you have decided upon the cruising ground and a suitable yacht, we will draw up a charter contract between yourself, the charterer and the vessel's owner. In this contract, OCEAN Independence will be mentioned as the charter agent. The brokerage commission is included in the charter rates.

When signing the charter agreement, a deposit of 50 % will be required to confirm the booking. The remaining balance of 50 % will be due four weeks prior to the agreed boarding date. If the yacht is booked under MYBA Terms, an additional advanced payment for fuel and provisioning is to be made together with the second instalment. The amount varies from yacht to yacht and upon completion of the charter, the captain will present a final, itemised statement of account showing if a refund or any further cash payments is due.

The crews' gratuity is entirely a matter for your personal discretion; should you feel satisfied with the level of service received on board, a usual gratuity amount is of 10% of the charter fee.
