Budgeting And Cost Control

The budget of a yacht always has to take into account the plans and the wishes of an Owner. The budget is a binding guideline for the Captain and the managers and later allows to compare the actual situation with the projected situation. This can lead to important insight into the development of maintenance and other operational cost - and to accordingly taken action.

We prepare a budget for each yacht and for each year. Such budget takes the daily operational cost as well as the expected maintenance cost (including renewal of items as foreseen) into account.
For charter yachts we additionally prepare a budget for the extra expenses originating from chartering (brochure, presentations, extra use) as well as for the expected income.

Experience shows that timely and professional planning of costs and work related to those, combined with a stringent control of all cost items, not only leads to less cost but also to better work. Another important result is that the flow of funds remains, or becomes, transparent.
Naturally we cross-check the cash accounting of the Captain, and suggest savings if and where advisable. We can often achieve discounts from suppliers on behalf of the Owners - and we NEVER keep those discounts.

We consider it to be our task to save the money spent by the Owner on our management by organizing the operation on board cost efficiently, by negotiating successfully with suppliers and yards, etc.
