Reports

Based on our experience in commercial shipping, we strongly believe that a sensible reporting system is a vital part of managing an independent operational unit such as an expensive yacht.

An Owner must be able to obtain information on current or past happenings on his yacht at short notice. A reporting system may not obstruct the Captain in the execution of his daily task. On the other hand he should be aware of, and account for, his responsibilities and his action - and he should be made aware of it.

Consistent reporting can make an important difference - e.g. when immediate, standardized damage reports enable the shore organization to respond quickly and to support the yacht and her crew efficiently.

The crew is also asked to maintain the updated inventories. This can not only prevent over- and under-stocking of a yacht, but it also enhances the awareness of the crew about the equipment on board, and reminds about the responsibility that the crew has when using it.
It also, not least, allows timely planning of purchases and thereby saving of cost.

We also believe it to be most important that every yacht should build up her "history". This can be essential in a case of an emergency, at times of crew changes, for a major re-fit or at the time of a sale. To start reporting when things already have gone wrong is often too late.
