6 marathons in 6 days in the Himalayas, go Rebecca!

14 November 2011 | It was only a matter of time before someone presented OCEAN Independence Charter Broker Rebecca Pattinson with a challenging enough reason to don her running shoes again, and so the seasoned marathoner and her equally adventurous 71 year old Aunt are off to the Himalayas on the 19th November to run 6 marathons in 6 days, dubbed The Race of The Planets or Racing The Planet.

This is one of the toughest foot races in the world, a 250 km, 6-day event, carrying your own food & equipment with an aggregate vertical ascent and descent of more than 61,300 feet (18,700 metres), but Rebecca, as her colleagues would expect, appears undaunted and is highly motivated to give it her best shot.

Running, scrambling, gulping for air and marvelling at the spectacular scenery alongside Rebecca will be her record breaking Aunt Jennifer, the first woman to pilot a helicopter around the world the septuagenarian will make the Guinness book of records 2012 as the oldest woman to complete an Ultra marathon of such endurance at the end of the 6-day event.

These mammoth efforts, aside from being a spectacular personal feat for the formidable duo are also all in aid of supporting The Busoga Trust which changes the lives of so many in rural Uganda. To make a donation please visit http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/RebeccaPattinson
