A memorable September Yacht Show season 2009

08 October 2009 | Through September with 3 shows in Cannes, Monaco and Cap Ferrat, spanning a total of 10 days the OCEAN Independence (OCI) team conducted more than 400 tours across a fleet of 12 yachts exhibited and closed a sale in international waters!

Starting in sunny Cannes with the brokerage exhibition in Port Canto, OCI presented the 26m Troy Marine MRS ROBINSON and the 27m Leopard from Cantieri Navale Arno HARDWORK II both enjoyed a steady stream of quality visitors in line with the relaxed nature of the show.

Then moving on later in the month to the frenetic Monaco show, this year teamed with a new MYBA selection event off Cap Ferrat. With a striking new stand on the T-Central, 5 magnificent yachts on display in the port, a further 6 at anchor in the inaugural MYBA selection show and 3 dedicated tenders, the 37 strong team from OCI truly made their mark on this year’s edition of the ever-exclusive Monaco Yacht Show (MYS).

Yachts in the port were the newly for sale: magnificent 69.5m Oceanfast NOMAD, impeccably refitted 60.3m Brooker Marine TITAN, popular charter yacht 46.33m Feadship JANA, timeless 33.7m Hakvoort SPADA and finally the performance sloop 32m Royal Huisman GLISS.

The show opened on a high note on Wednesday 23rd September with the closing of an in-house sale for OCI, the 32m Astonda CELTIC DAWN. A central agency yacht with OCI this was especially challenging for the two brokers involved who then ably juggled their schedules to be in two places at the same time!

On Thursday the 24th a cocktail party was held onboard NOMAD in collaboration with Christies, Elite Traveller & Raffles Canouan, with music from DJ Peter Stone, champagne from Billecart Salmon and wines from Domaine de L’Amaurige.

Then on day 3, Friday 25th the MYBA selection opened in parallel off the idyllic Cap Ferrat with no less than 6 OCI yachts in attendance; 57m Aegean Yacht MONTIGNE , 47m Nereids Yachts ARETHUSA, 42m Feadship MASQUERADE OF SOLE, 40m Diaship/Heesen MIRAGE, 40m San Lorenzo ONYX, and 32m Ocea PAOLYRE.

On Saturday 26th MYS wrapped up with the OCI team dinner at Le Bistroquet in Monte Carlo and on Sunday 27th the MYBA selection show closed in good spirits despite the bothersome sea-state.

Throughout the shows OCI’s fleet both in and out of Monaco port was skillfully serviced by 3 dedicated OCI tenders; the smooth 23m FM75 SOSSEGO, the sporty 12.9m ALEN tender and the nimble 11.1m Wajer OSPREY and on the T quay the team masseuses from Zen & Co ensured the smooth operation of the OCI team!
