The large volume of certification required on board yachts to verify their compliance with relevant rules and regulations continues to grow. Types of certification vary depending on yacht size, numbers of guests and crew, flag state and charter status.
In addition, the number of yacht inspections by port and flag state surveyors, customs officials, coast guard and insurance surveyors is steadily increasing.
These officials are obliged to check a yacht's certification to ensure it complies with the relevant rules and regulations. If the certification is found to be in good order, the extent of any further inspections is normally much reduced.
