Making a bold move away from supplying yacht construction services for renowned Italian shipyards, to building luxury yachts under their own name, Tureddi are well positioned to become a key player in the Italian luxury yacht construction industry.
We were recently delighted to sit down with the President of the Tureddi board, and son of the company’s founder, Alessandro Tureddi. Discussing his family’s shipyard, their unique position in an often-impenetrable industry, and the recent addition of a 34 metre Tureddi new-build to the Ocean Independence sales fleet, below we offer some exclusive insights into the past, present and future of this fascinating brand.
OLD BUT NEW: THE BIRTH OF CANTIERI NAVALI TUREDDI GROUP
The inception of the Tureddi shipyard was inspired by a family with a passion for yachting. After 45 years of contract work, building luxury yachts for renowned Italian brands like Sanlorenzo, Codecasa, and Benetti, Tureddi have decided to branch out.
Having completed the build of 60 yachts, they now aim to construct a fleet of 30-60 metre semi-custom yachts under their family name. A daring step indeed, but one built on decades of experience and quality craftsmanship, they position themselves as a fresh, perhaps long overdue, new addition to the market.
DEFINING A UNIQUE SUPERYACHT BRAND
The business of superyacht construction in Italy, and Europe as a whole, is extremely competitive. Many brands have established their name over centuries and are now built upon their heritage and a legacy of quality yacht production. Tureddi, however, is carving out a new niche with its distinct approach.
While a new name for many, for those “in the know” Tureddi has played a key role in constructing some of the world’s finest superyachts over the past 45 years. Carrying out contract work for many of Italy’s most revered shipyards, Tureddi’s workforce have honed masterful shipbuilding skills and stand ready to show just what they can do with Tureddi’s new range of luxury yachts they have brought to market.
Focused on quality over quantity, Tureddi endeavours to offer a semi-custom platform that allows Owners to express their unique tastes and preferences to a level unlike many series-built yachts in the same size category. While they handle the naval architecture and exterior design, the interior of each yacht is completely customisable.
Differing from many yards who offer semi-custom yachts but with very limited customisation, Tureddi promises an entirely customisable interior. From layouts and the number of staterooms, to finishes and unique amenities, Owners are invited, and encouraged, to infuse their personalities into their superyacht’s interior design ethos.
MERGING TRADITION AND INNOVATION
With an English administrative and management head and the experience of Italian artisan work, Tureddi strikes a balance between tradition and innovation in a truly unique way. Their seasoned craftsmen carry decades of experience, respect tradition, and lead in quality yacht construction. Meanwhile, the young and creative managerial team based in London, along with the innovation, and design departments bring fresh perspectives.
Toeing the line with the most esteemed Italian yards, Tureddi boasts a robust in-house manufacturing system that provides an enviable degree of control over the production process. While many series-produced yachts will have up to 85% of their production outsourced, Tureddi controls a whopping 75% of production in-house, only opting to outsource the nitty-gritty of raw material production.
This control over all aspects of a yacht’s production translates to unparalleled customisation options for the Owner, and effectively bypasses the potential stumbling blocks and, subsequent delays, of outsourcing.
