Ahead of her attendance at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show, we show you exactly why PLAN A is one of the most desirable open series superyachts ever built.
You can’t grow up without learning to recognise the vivid ‘Rosso Corsa’ paintwork and racetrack derived stance of a Ferrari, despite never having made an effort to actually learn each specific model. They are so undeniably good looking, and so ingeniously unique, they inevitably become symbolic, taking up room in our heads over a period of cultural osmosis.
This is a phenomenon that is applicable, in it’s own way, to open series Mangustas. It feels impossible to imagine a picture of Saint Tropez, Portofino, or Monaco without a Mangusta somewhere in the scene. Elegantly moored stern-to, the sun flashing off its painstakingly polished chrome fittings and brilliant white hull, or effortlessly powering across the horizon.
Even for those that have no interest in yachts, and whose seafaring skills extend about as far as driving a car onto a ferry, they may not know what a Mangusta is, but they will recognise the sleek silhouette of these iconic superyachts. Somehow, just like the legendary automobiles from Maranello, these beautiful yachts have lodged themselves deep in many people’s minds.
Resulting from a collaboration between the Rodriguez Group and the Overmarine shipyard, located in Viareggio (Italy), this series of Mangusta yachts are the largest and fastest open series superyachts ever built, and are available in six models: 72’, 80’, 92’, 105’, 108’, 130’.
The 130 sits at the top of the pile in terms of size and performance, so, Ocean Independence is thrilled to present one of the finest examples of the Mangusta 130 for sale at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show, PLAN A.
Launched in 2007, PLAN A stands as a testament to the Italian marque’s undeniable build quality, and meticulous maintenance from her current Owner. Below we take a tour of this stunning yacht.
AFT DECK
This aft deck, known for its generous dimensions across the Mangusta series, is one of PLAN A’s defining features, striking a balance between space and thoughtful design. As Yacht Sales Consultant Adrian Soos, remarks, “the aft deck on PLAN A isn’t just about space; it’s about using that space to create moments.”
This is a yacht where versatility has been carefully considered. A plush lounging area beneath a retractable shade beckons guests to recline and bask in the sun, whilst the central dining table stands ready to host afternoon soirées, filled with laughter, fine wine, and stories that last well into the early hours.
Designed to cater to multi-generational groups, PLAN A’s practicality shines through. Two discrete lockers aft house a selection of watertoys. And for those who wish for a seamless transition from yacht to shore, a dedicated tender garage, complete with a 16′ Castoldi tender delivers a neat solution.
Adrian captures PLAN A’s essence stating, “everything about this yacht, especially the aft deck, feels decidedly Italian – where design meets functionality. It’s not just about the toys and luxury, it’s about where they fit and how they enhance the yachting experience.”
This, paired with her impeccable level of maintenance, MCA compliance, fast cruising, and low draft, means she is primed to become an exceptional charter yacht, ideal for an Owner looking to recoup some of the running costs of their luxury yacht.
