Founding partners - Nicholas Dean and Peter Hürzeler. Both managing partners at Ocean Independence have more than 30 years of professional experience in yachting. Nicholas Dean is a purebred yacht broker who cut his teeth at Brighton Marina where he sold his first yacht at the tender age of 19. Now, his knowledge and experience make him the go-to expert for sales, charter, tax and legal issues. Peter Hürzeler began his career at 21 as a merchant deck officer. He went on to captain large motor sailers before founding and running Ocean Cruise for 14 years. His experience as a charter fleet owner/operator and yacht broker gives him a 360-degree perspective, which is valued by clients and colleagues alike. In 2005 Nicholas and Peter joined forces, using the foundation of Ocean Cruise, Velonà Yachting and Sea Independence to create Ocean Independence, before going on to acquire Cavendish White two years later. By 2009, Ocean Independence employed 70 people. An office in Mumbai opened and the 100th charter central agency was signed in 2010, before Primo Yacht joined the ranks and the company became a frontrunner for charter management with the largest fleet in the world and a new office in Auckland. In early 2015 Ocean Independence added a US sales team and a Malta office, finishing the first decade of operation with a 90+ strong team and 15 offices worldwide.
Multifaceted, professional and informed on every aspect of superyacht sales, charter, marketing and management, our global team encompasses 26 nationalities, 23 languages, and a vast portfolio of expertise. What unites us is our passion for yachting and for excellence.
