Yacht Shows Cancelled Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

13 Mar 2020

A number of upcoming yacht shows have been cancelled or postponed due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The Superyacht Show Palm Beach due to run from 26 – 28 March 2020, have announce that the show will be cancelled this year, while the Palm Beach International Boat Show has been postponed indefinitely.

In Europe, the start of the Palma Superyacht Show has been postponed from 29 April until 4 June and the Superyacht Show Barcelona has been cancelled. Several other shows, both industry-only and public, are yet to officially announce whether they will continue as planned or if they will also choose to change course due to the current global health concerns. Ocean Independence will fully support all rescheduled events that the company had previously planned to attend.

While the cancelling of large public gatherings is widely seen as a necessary measure to limit the further spread of coronavirus, a private superyacht is currently considered one of the safest ways to travel and the yacht charter market continues to see steady activity.

In order to ensure that charter clients can continue to plan their summer getaways with peace of mind, Ocean Independence has introduced an addendum to the MYBA charter agreement that allows for increased flexibility in the case of changes or cancellations to any charter bookings due to the coronavirus.

Please do not hesitate to speak to your charter broker or contact us for further information and up to date advice.
