Campbell grew up in Wellington, New Zealand where he learned to sail from a young age, cruising in the summer holidays with family. After completing high school and marine engineering studies, he started his career in Auckland as a marine engineer before moving to Europe in 2004 to further pursue a future in yachting. In 2011, Campbell assisted with the build of a 45m expedition vessel in Auckland. This subsequently took him cruising in remote regions of the South Pacific, including Tahiti and the Cook Islands, as well as Galapagos. Campbell now boasts 20 years of experience in the yachting industry on a wide variety of motor and sailing yachts from 24m to 122m, having built up his skills to captain several large yachts. Now part of the team at Ocean Independence, he is using his comprehensive and practical knowledge to manage yacht operations.
