Originally from the Czech Republic, Jan has always had passion for the sea and his dream was to become a maritime professional.
To follow this dream, he moved to Gdynia, Poland to study at their Maritime University. After graduating, Jan started to sail as an officer on commercial cargo vessels of various sizes. When Jan obtained his Chief Officer Unlimited licence, he managed to get his foot on offshore vessels where he worked as chief officer/second in command. As a head of department, he gained more experience in ISM, ISPS, crew management, dry docking plans and budget control, before making the transition to the high-end luxury cruise ship industry.
Jan has always loved large yachts and working on one was his long-term goal. After making the move to private yachting, he worked on board one of the largest yachts in the world. With experience as a navigational officer, Jan possesses the know-how in delivering excellent customer experience and service. After more than 10 years spent at sea, Jan made the transition and joined the yacht management team of Ocean Independence.
