Sailing adventures on the water do not get better than this.
ATHENA – For Charter
Athena is the largest privately owned sailing yacht available for charter and, at a staggering 90m, is a rare commodity. In the words of her captain, ‘Athena’s programme has been full of variety, including trips to Alaska, the America’s Cup, Croatia and French Polynesia. But Xanthos, in Turkey, has a special allure for me. You can wander among wild sage bushes, unearthing stunning mosaics with your feet.’
Built in 2004 by Dutch Royal Huisman, Athena has an awe-inspiring 2,500sq m of sail power and can reach up to 19 knots. The tallest of Athena’s three masts is 62m high and, with a hydraulically operated crow’s nest, the opportunities for epic ‘land-ho’ moments or magnificent panoramic photography are endless. Even the size of the 20-strong crew is remarkable, with a two-to-one crew-to-guest ratio that ensures exceptional service.
For adventures on the water, there is an array of watersports toys, including scuba gear (diving is rendezvous-only for charter) and an inflatable water slide – a unique sight on a sailing yacht. Adorning Athena’s walls is an impressive collection of artworks and the luxury of space for up to 10 guests in five cabins.
