The Style Obsession
Caribbean chic and yacht club glamour, Ralph Lauren's collection for spring/summer 2018 is made for life on board.
Inspired by his home in Jamaica’s Montego Bay, Ralph Lauren‘s collection for spring/summer 2018 is a breezy, beautiful ode to the sensations of island living, the vibrance of the Caribbean and the effortless glamour of ocean retreats. Clean and modern with playful, nautical detailing, this is simple sophistication as only Ralph Lauren knows.
Describing the pieces as “exuberant, luxurious, timeless”, Ralph Lauren conjures the magic of his Jamaican sanctuary and creates a collection worthy of the superyacht lifestyle. Crisp cottons, creamy silks and soft georgettes are imbued with romantic florals and fresh island motifs, while artful stripes, chic tie dye patterns and bold graphics add a lovely whimsy. The base colour palette is tranquil – crisp whites and blue hues – but comes alive with bold primary pops of strong reds, vibrant yellows and lush greens that evoke verdant coastlines and vivid regatta standards.
Alongside the island style, running through the entire collection, is a traditional yacht club, nautical aesthetic; a nod to the preppy look that the Lauren name has built itself upon. Double-breasted navy blazers with gold buttons, Bermuda shorts, boating boots and deck mocs, and seafaring anoraks covered in prints that hint at the glitz of the French Riviera. The evening gowns are even yachtie, with flowing dresses appearing to have been crafted from bright superyacht spinnakers straight from the St Barths Bucket.
From top to bottom, this entire collection is designed for lazy afternoons at the Yacht Club or sipping rum cocktails at a barefoot beach bar you can only reach by tender.
