Moonen
Having grown up as an avid boat enthusiast, Rien Moonen purchased his first boat, an 11-metre steel cruiser from De Ruiter shipyard, whilst working for his father’s painting company. He later switched to a career in real estate, offering De Ruiter a plot to expand their shipyard in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.
As his relationship with them progressed, he eventually had the opportunity to take over the yard, combining his skills as an entrepreneur with his passion for the yachting industry.
In the following years, the shipyard expanded, becoming home to some of the most talented architects, designers and engineers in the industry. They became known for their line of semi-custom motor yachts for international clientele, which soon resulted in custom yacht commissions.
Now, with over 40 years of experience and expertise, the Dutch shipyard continues to produce luxury superyachts that reflect their clients’ personal style - priding themselves on their expert craftsmanship, attention to detail and standout quality.
Types of yachts
The shipyard proudly produces what they refer to as ‘pocket-size superyachts’, specialising in private motor yachts between 30 to 50 metres. From full displacement cruisers to fast, semi-displacement yachts, transoceanic explorers and more - their clear-cut aesthetic and high-quality finish ensure every yacht bears a distinct family resemblance.
Features
Despite their more petite structure, Moonen yachts are remarkably spacious, with ample outdoor areas to relax and spacious staterooms for you and your guests. Their designs generally favour more sleek, classic aesthetics - providing the yacht with a luxury, exclusive air with a modern twist.
Across their fleet, you can expect to see chic interiors, modern styling and large outdoor spaces for you and your guests to gather and enjoy the panoramic ocean views.
Notable yachts
Whilst many of the shipyard’s yachts feature similar characteristics, the high quality finish and elegant design leave little to be desired. Perhaps one of their more noteworthy yachts would be the 42m SOFIA, with exterior styling by René van der Velden and a chic contemporary interior by Art-line Interiors. But the feature that makes her stand out from the crowd is her yellow three-person submarine on the swim platform - something that attracted lots of attention from prospective buyers.
