Charter Destination The Dodecanese

The dozen large – and several small – islands of the Dodecanese in the Aegean Sea close to Turkey are scattered with impressive archaeological sites and steeped in folklore and history. Blessed with sweeping beaches, plunging mountains and cloudless skies, this area offers perfect cruising areas.

The most famous destinations of the island group are Rhodes and Kos, both cosmopolitan islands. Historically, the more important and renowned is Rhodes, due in part to its superlative beaches, well-preserved medieval town and archaeological sites. Wander the streets of the walled old town, now a UNESCO World Heritage City, or enjoy stunning views of whitewashed houses cascading down the hillsides against the imposing medieval fortifications of the old town from the comfort of your yacht.

Kos is also well worth visiting. Known for its sandy beaches medieval settlements and archaeological sites, it is a very popular yacht charter destination in Greece, partly as it is ideally placed to cruise around to a number of other beautiful islands, including Leros – popular for diving, Kalymnos – a famous rock climbing destination and Patmos – renowned as the Jerusalem of the Aegean. This peaceful, very religious and historically important island was the place where Saint John the Divine wrote the Apocalypse.
